Photographer Yvonne Kemp, sister of photographer Harry Kemp poses with a picture of her late brother during a celebration of Harry Kemp’s life and career in which he shot hundreds of thousands of photos that chronicled Black Milwaukee life for over 50 years. Harry Kemp died Thursday, September 29. He was 78. The celebration was held at the Wisconsin Black Historical Society/Museum and drew a capacity crowd of friends, family, business leaders, fellow photographers, activists, political leaders and regular people, many of whom, at one time or another, were subjects of Harry Kemp’s lens.
