Pulse of the Community

Question of the Week: "Why is it important for African Americans to know their history?"

Photos and question by Harry Kemp

Keshia: "To understand the struggle African Americans went through so that you can better appreciate things."

Delaney: "It’s good to know where you came from because it’s good to know who you are."

Delores Hollowell: "The importance of knowing our Black history gives us a better understanding of who we are and where we came from and how far we have come over the years. It makes us strive for bigger and better things."

Joe Scott: "You should know your family history and where you come from. If you know that then you can pass it down the line. Then your kids can do the same."
