Jade and DeVona Wright Cottrell

by Kia Marie Green
It’s often said that the difference between success and failure is patience and persistence. Coupled with faith and determination, success is definite. For Jade Cottrell and his wife DeVona Wright Cottrell, patience, persistence, faith and determination has not only awarded them success, but has enabled them to help others succeed. Their stories epitomize the idea that “if you can believe, you will achieve” and day-by-day, they reinforce that ... Read more

RTA Vital to Jobs and Economy

by Jerry Ann Hamilton, president of the NAACP-Milwaukee Branch
Transit is a vital lifeline. It is woven into the fabric of our community and economy. Connecting residents to jobs and creating jobs that are transit-accessible is crucial to addressing poverty and unemployment, and to spurring economic development and growing jobs. Costs to operate the system continue going up while state, federal and local revenues stay at the same level, resulting in dramatic service cuts and fare increases over the past 7 years. Our future bodes even worse with 30% service cuts projected by 2011 if this funding trend ... Read more

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...and the amusement park, water park, museum, Lakefront ...

Visiting teams then sport replica uniforms representing Negro League teams from their city’s past, such as the Kansas City Monarchs and Indianapolis Clowns. ... Read more
