Thoughts on fatherhood
by Mikel Kwaku Osei Holt
I woke up Sunday morning to the voice of a grandson wishing me a happy father’s day.
Several hours later, my second grandson called with similar well wishing.
If the universe was just, they would have run into their father’s bedroom and offered him the accolades. Pulse of the Community
Question of the week: "As adults, are we sending the right messages to our children to influence their behavior?"
Photos and questions by Harry Kemp

Tina O’Neil: "As an educator, I feel that I have been setting a good example for our children. I encourage my students to work hard and pursue higher education. I also talk to them about the consequences of bad decision making."
|

Warren Buliox: "Very simply, as a community, we need to dedicate more resources to our children. Minority professionals and other positive role models need to work harder to ensure that they are just as big an influence on our children as athletes and rap stars are."
|

Joe C. Bowers: "No. We are sending a negative message that we can do as we please without earning it; which makes us and our children selfish. Positive influences are guaranteed through Christ."
|

Sandy Lewis: "Yes. Because kids today need a lot of guidance other than their parents."
