Bookshelf: Local singer, evangelist and author Selena Green to hold book signing to benefit St. Ann Center June 11
June 4, 2010 // 0 CommentsLocal evangelist and gospel singer Selena Green will sign copies of her new book, “I Heard Their Cry, Can you Hear Mines” at St. Ann Center, 2801 E. Morgan Ave. Friday, June 11, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Green plans to give a percentage of the proceeds from the book to St. Ann Center, a non-profit organization that offers services to the mentally disabled and those with Alzheimers, Dementia and cognitive delayed disorders.
Green chose St. Ann for the signing and donation because it fell short of its budget goal do to limited state funds.
“I Heard Their Cry,” is a true story of a treatment foster parent who puts her own dreams on hold and adopts four siblings and gives them a safe and loving environment.
But soon, the foster parent discovers the children have many deep, dark secrets, the discovery of which may cost the parent her own life.
Though fiction, Green uses her own experience as the mother of four adopted children and an adult woman with cognitive problems.
The book is dedicated to talk show host Oprah Winfrey, who Green met in 1989 and credits with inspiring her to follow her dreams.
