Derek Williams inquest begins Tuesday

MILWAUKEE — It’s been more than a year since Derek Williams died in the back of a Milwaukee squad car and on Tuesday the county will begin its investigation into the controversial death.
A special prosecutor and a judge will meet at the Milwaukee County Courthouse.
Williams died in July 2011 after police arrested him for attempted robbery.
The officers involved were placed on administrative duty, but an initial MPD investigation found the officers did not break any rules.
Williams’ death was initially ruled “natural” but the Medical Examiner amended the ruling after video of Williams suffering in the back of the squad car surfaced
The FBI has said it will investigate Williams’ death.
