Envy boutique carries fashions that are truly one of a kind
by Kia Marie Cook Tucked neatly on near the corner of Farwell Avenue, sits a hip clothing boutique: Envy, where exclusivity is key. "We don’t want to carry anything that anybody else has around--if you can find it some where else, we usually don’t carry it," said Jenny Toy, manager and buyer for the store. "If you can get it down the street, why would we carry it--it just doesn’t make sense. "We just want something unique and diverse ... people want things that no one else has all the time, so we try and do that," Toy said. From dangling beaded earrings with matching necklaces and bracelets to a pair of sexy, snakeskin-like stilettos to Andy Warhol-themed handbags, Envy specializes in exclusively distinctive clothes and accessories. Derived from the Phase II Skateboarding Shop as the woman’s answer to skateboarding necessities, in nearly seven months, Envy has taken off and expanded to become an all around, top-notch clothing boutique. "It started out we were going to bring in all the girls’ skate lines because they didn’t have any room over there," Toy said. "And those lines also now are making dress clothes ... So we branched out. We brought in a couple of dress shoes to go with the dressier clothes." With a name like Envy, which was created from "a big brainstorm," the clothing boutique is sure to stand above the rest. "We’re finding in a lot of new cool companies and we’d like to expand to bring in as much as we can," Toy said. "The best of what’s around and the cool stuff, the unique stuff--that’s what we’re looking for." |
