Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and Northwest Funeral Chapel salute family stability

At a time when more than 50 percent of marriages end in divorce and father absenteeism is one of the most pervasive social problems facing the American family, some couples stay the course and weather the storms.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Epsilon Kappa Omega Chapter and its partner Northwest Funeral Chapel, Inc. salute family stability. Couples who have been married 30 or more years may renew their vows before family and friends on September 30 at 2 p.m. in the beautiful sanctuary of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Applications may be picked up from area churches, chapter members, Perkins Family Restaurant, The Bungalow Restaurants, and The Mardi Gras Restaurant. Applications should be returned to The AKA Family Stability Celebration no later than September 20 at 4905 North 31st Street, Milwaukee, WI 53209. There is no application fee; expenses have been underwritten by Northwest Funeral Chapel and the AKA Chapter.
Come as formal as you like or pull out a dark suit for men and a dress or dress suit for the women, but save the date Saturday, September 30 to recommit your wedding vows before loved ones. The Reverend Louis E. Sibley, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, located on 2nd and Garfield will officiate. A photographer will be available to capture this momentous event, and a reception will follow in Coggs Hall.
Catherine Miles, the Epsilon Kappa Omega Chapter president, said "We just wanted to recognize and honor those couples who have stayed together and made their marriages work. Too often we only recognize the 25 and 50 year milestones, yet anytime couples have been married 30 years or more that is a cause for celebration."
