In celebration of the 100 year centennial observance of the founding of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Blyden Delany Academy’s Principal Taki S. Raton proudly displays his fraternity wall signature with eighth grader Kumasi Allen on this past Monday, December 4, which was proclaimed "Alpha Phi Alpha" day at the school. The fraternity was founded on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on December 4, 1906 by the "Seven Jewels" of Alpha--Henry Arthur Callis, Charles Henry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelly, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy. Milwaukee undergraduate chapters include Marquette’s Nu Xi and Epsilon Tau at UWM. The area city wide graduate chapter is Delta Chi Lambda. (photo by Harry Kemp)
