From garbage to stardom – Milwaukee’s Naima lights up Summerfest stage

Naima Adedapo is best known for being a contestant on American Idol season 10. However, to her hometown of Milwaukee, we know her as our beloved artist & dreamer! Naima auditioned for the show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and made it all the way into the American Idol top 11. Naima Adedapo was eliminated on March 31, 2011 but was seen touring on the American Idol 2011 tour.  A very moving part of her high-energy (packed) show at Summerfest was when she called the “blue shirts” ground cleaning crew (which she used to be a part of) up on the stage, and paid tribute to them, saying to the audience, “These beautiful people clean up after you guys, show them love and tell them thank you”.

25-year-old Naima Adedapo wants to give her daughters a better life than she had. She pursues her dream as an artist through singing, acting, and dancing, but also has to work a 9-to-5 to pay the bills. In fact, she has done janitorial work at the venue where she auditioned in Milwaukee and has always thought that she should be the one on stage. All her hard work seems to be paying off: Naima’s wowed the judges with her Idol performances.
