Jerry Ann Hamilton reelected president of Milwaukee NAACP
Jerry Ann Hamilton, president of the Milwaukee Branch of the NAACP, was reelected to that position Sunday, winning out over Tony Fikes, who was the organization’s first vice president.
Close to 200 people came for the election at the branch’s headquarters at 2745 North Martin Luther King Drive. The Milwaukee NAACP branch is the largest in the state.
Hamilton, a retired teacher, said her reelection allows her to continue efforts to get corporations to hire more people of color and address issues of race.
Fikes is a retired president and CEO of Milwaukee Satellite Industries, Inc. He expressed hope that Hamilton and the local branch will be more proactive in addressing the issues facing Black Milwaukeeans. |
