Low-cost, high-quality MRI procedures now available in the Midwest

The first SmartChoice MRI office opened October 30

Metropolitan Milwaukee consumers now have a low-cost, high-quality medical choice for MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging). SmartChoice MRI is announcing its first state-of-the-art facility, which opened October 30 at 1621 Miller Park Way, just south of Miller Park, across from Target--just behind Chili’s Restaurant. SmartChoice MRI patients will benefit from advanced GE Excite high definition technology.

Local Board-certified, fellowship trained radiologists will ensure that patients achieve maximum benefits from this technology.

SmartChoice MRI CEO Eric Haberichter notes that Milwaukee healthcare costs are among the highest in the nation. He’s confident the facility’s opening will fill a vital medical need. "This represents a new model in health care.

"Collectively, patients have been raising their voices for low-cost, high-quality medical care. Most people will need an MRI at some time as part of their overall health care. At SmartChoice MRI, patients have access to convenient, state-of-the-art imaging for $600. That's revolutionary," said Haberichter.

Most area MRIs cost $1,300 to $3,000. Self-insured patients or those with high deductibles or Health Savings Accounts are expected to benefit most from the availability of low-cost, high-quality MRIs. MRIs use radio waves in the presence of magnetic fields to allow doctors to look inside the body without invasive surgery, or radiation.

"Even if their co-pay is low, 10% of $600 is a lot less than 10% of $3,000. Patients will also benefit from the personal undivided attention of experienced technologists during their visit, and local Board-certified, fellowship trained radiologists will interpret their results," said Haberichter.

SmartChoice MRI is able to capture remarkably detailed images. Typical scans are breast; neurological; brain imaging; spine studies; orthopedic-including elbow, wrist, hip, knee, foot and ankle; pelvis; abdominal; and vascular studies to evaluate blood flow.

At SmartChoice MRI, the GE Excite system features a generous 24-inch opening and full 19-inch field of view, allowing patients to benefit from greater comfort, easier exam positions, a reduced need for rescanning, and greater safety.

Physicians and technologists benefit from enhanced imaging techniques, resulting in greater diagnostic confidence.

Haberichter said anyone is welcome at SmartChoice MRI. "Our centers are built around offering exceptional quality and service for MRI patients.

We keep our overhead low and pass the savings on to the patient. Our $600 fee covers everything. SmartChoice MRI does not have any hidden charges," said Haberichter.

SmartChoice MRI is conveniently located at 1621 Miller Park Way. Call to schedule an appointment: 262-240-2965. SmartChoice MRI plans to soon announce additional facilities in Southeastern Wisconsin.
