Self-insured patients or those with high deductibles or Health Savings Accounts are expected to benefit most from the availability of low-cost, high-quality MRIs. MRIs use radio waves in the presence of magnetic fields to allow doctors to look inside the body without invasive surgery, or radiation.
"Even if their co-pay is low, 10% of $600 is a lot less than 10% of $3,000. Patients will also benefit from the personal undivided attention of experienced technologists during their visit, and local Board-certified, fellowship trained radiologists will interpret their results," said Haberichter.
SmartChoice MRI is able to capture remarkably detailed images. Typical scans are breast; neurological; brain imaging; spine studies; orthopedic-including elbow, wrist, hip, knee, foot and ankle; pelvis; abdominal; and vascular studies to evaluate blood flow.
At SmartChoice MRI, the GE Excite system features a generous 24-inch opening and full 19-inch field of view, allowing patients to benefit from greater comfort, easier exam positions, a reduced need for rescanning, and greater safety.
