The Milwaukee Urban League celebrated 90 years of service to communities all over the nation at their annual Black and White Ball. The Ball is the premier event in the city and it attracts folks from all over the state irregardless to race or culture. It is their largest fundraiser of the year. Local singing artist holds CD Release Party at Brooklyn’s
Patrice Downey held a CD release party at Brooklyn’s Restaurant and Lounge. Her CD is titled, “Believe in Love,” and is Downey’s second release. Bobby Drake was the Emcee. Downey said her first CD was a musical search of herself. The new CD celebrates her finding out who she is and her search for happiness. Her sound is R&B with a bit of the neo-soul sound. Walking for good health in the community
The Black Health Coalition hosted a African American Prevention and Wellness Health Awareness Walk, which ended at the Wisconsin Black Historical Society where the walkers fellowshipped and had lunch. The Brother Hood of Black Firefighters host Summer Safety Cookout
The Brother Hood of Black Fire Fighters hosted their Eighth Annual Summer Safety Cookout at the Fitzsimmons Boys and Girls Club. The event was organized by Lieutenant Orlando Rice.
