A Blink of Black History
1854--Ashmun Institute (Lincoln University) the world’s first institution founded to provide a higher education in the arts and sciences for youth of African descent opens in Oxford, Pennsylvania.
1855--Macon B. Allen becomes the first African American to be formally admitted to the bar in Massachusetts.
1950--Gwendolyn Brooks becomes the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for her book of poetry, "Annie Allen."
1951-- Surgeons River Frederic, Ulysses G. Daley and Nelson M. Russell are honored by the International College of Surgeons.
1992--Four Los Angeles police officers are acquitted of charges stemming from the beating of Rodney King. Riots ensued after the verdicts.

Pepsi Cola promotions hits Milwaukee and Madison
Above Average is looking for energetic young women interested in working this summer for Pepsi Cola Promotions in Milwaukee and/or Madison.
You will only work weekends, from May 1 to July 14, and you may choose the dates you would like to work.
Prefer ethnic girls, since Pepsi’s target audience for this promotion is minorities...if you speak Spanish that is a PLUS! You must be at least 18-years-old.
You will basically be giving out samples and telling people about new products.

Hey Kia and Darvin Green. It’s been one year since the two of you said, "I do, do, do," Holla! I know you two are still newlyweds because you are still dating.
I heard you celebrated your anniversary for two days. You went bowling, went and shot some pool, went to the top of the Hyatt at The Polaris, feasting on salad and steak as y’all went around in circles as you sat on top of the city.
And then you got all romantic and stayed at the Hyatt over night. How romantic, Holla! Congratulations! Wishing you two a lifetime of happiness! Holla!

Condolences
To Laura Manriquez and Family on the passing of your 4-month-old granddaughter, Leilani Olivera.
Precious Leilani Olivera died from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).
It is truly sad because it is the second death in the immediate Manriquez family within two weeks. Our prayers are with you and your family, Laura. I-Witness is asking all her readers to pray for your family.
