WASHINGTON — Actress and activist Jada Pinkett Smith (pictured) is urging Congress to step up the fight against human trafficking in the United States and abroad. The actress testified during a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing Tuesday that she plans to launch a campaign to raise awareness and spur action against human trafficking and slavery. She credited her 11-year-old daughter, Willow, who sat nearby, with bringing the issue to her attention. Also on hand was actor Will Smith, the actress’ husband and Willow’s father.
The actress said human slavery “robs us of the thing we value most, our freedom.”
