Mardi Gras Restaurant celebrates first anniversary

Mardi Gras Restaurant, one of Milwaukee’s premier Creole, Cajun and southern cuisine dining establishments will celebrate its first year anniversary on October 21.

Mardi Gras Restaurant was scheduled to open in August 2005, however as a result of the impact of Hurricane Katrina on the City of New Orleans and the owner's family, it opened with fanfare on October 21, 2005.

The celebration will consists of $1 anniversary martinis, food specials like Gumbo, Shrimp Creole, Beignets, Jamabalaya, Etoufee, authentic Po-Boy Sandwiches, and much more. The restaurant will host live music the entire weekend of October 20, commencing with the renowned Manty Ellis Trio at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 20, followed by the gifts of the Norrie Cox Dixieland Band at 11:30 a.m. and the contemporary jazz styles of The Rickey Price Band at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21. The weekend will conclude with a 17 item Gospel Buffet (1 p.m.) and the sounds of the award-winning All Saints Gospel Choir (2:30 p.m.), on Sunday, October 22.

Mardi Gras Restaurant invites everyone to celebrate Mardi Gras in October in honor of our first anniversary.

A portion of the proceeds for the weekend will be set aside to assist New Orleans evacuees still residing in Milwaukee with winter coats, hats, gloves, etc. They would simply have to prove their relocation as a result of Hurricane Katrina and apply at Mardi Gras Restaurant. Mardi Gras Restaurant will honor the requests until the set aside funds are depleted.
