Milwaukee area church to participate in National Black Marriage Day with local event
March 28, 2010 // 0 CommentsMetropolitan Missionary Baptist Church, 1345 W. Burleigh St. will provide a special event for the community to celebrate Natioanl Black Marriage Day on March 28. This national day of celebration, “Celebrate the Joy,” was initiated by the Wedded Bliss Foundation headquartered in Washington D.C. (www.blackmarriageday.com) to recognize and awaken all Americans to the importance and significance of marriage in the African American community.
Metropolitan Baptist is inviting the public to attend the event at 5 p.m. for a memorable evening including a vow renewal to honor all married couples, a special recognition of those couples married 50-plus years, and a reception.
The goal is to lead the community in cherishing and celebrating today’s marriages while encouraging more to commit to matrimony. All houses of worship, schools and interested parties are encouraged to celebrate the day through individual efforts or to join in the planned celebration at Metropolitan.
