Milwaukee Health Services, Inc hold Women’s Resource and Health Fair
November 7, 2010 // 0 CommentsOn Saturday, October 16, Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. (MHSI) held a Women’s Resource & Health Fair: Celebrating the Woman in You at the MLK Heritage Health Center at 2555 N. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.
In addition to being empowered with health and resource information, the attendees benefited from pampering sessions that included hand & foot massages as well as facials. Offered screenings included blood pressure and glucose.
The event was organized by MHSI’s Social Work Department and was offered during October as attention is focused on women’s issues including breast cancer and domestic violence awareness.
Exhibitors included MHSI’s SOC-IT: Komen for the Cure, Women’s Infant & Children’s Program (WIC), Benefits Department and Early Intervention Program-HIV Clinic.
Community vendors included; Social Development Commission, the Blood Center of Wisconsin, Abri Healthcare.
Women received t-shirts and door prizes that were provided by Milwaukee Times Newspaper, Wounded Wings Association as well as Mary Kay and Avon cosmetic baskets provided by MHSI staff.
Refreshments were provided by The Gumbo Man, Armon’s Catering and JuJu’s Mini-Mart. Individuals without an established medical home were also introduced to the services that MHSI provides.
MHSI provides accessible, quality primary and related health care services to Milwaukee residents, with their continuing emphasis on medically underserved families and individuals.
