Nordstrom plans full-line store at Mayfair in 2015

Nordstrom said Thursday it plans to open a full-line store at Mayfair in Wauwatosa scheduled to open in fall 2015.

The Seattle-based retailer plans to open an approximately 140,000-square-foot, three-level store, joining Macy’s, Boston Store, Crate & Barrel and the Apple Store at Mayfair. It will be the first full-line Nordstrom location in Wisconsin.

“We’ve heard from customers in the Milwaukee area for years that they would appreciate a store in their community,” said Erik Nordstrom in a press release. “We’re glad we have an opportunity to serve our customers, as well as those new to Nordstrom, in such a strong location as Mayfair.”

Nordstrom Inc. is a fashion specialty retailer with 225 United States stores in 30 states as of March 16.

“We are proud to join Mayfair in welcoming Nordstrom to the city of Wauwatosa as a great addition to the premiere mix of retailers available to shoppers in our community and all of southeastern Wisconsin,” Wauwatosa Mayor Kathy Ehley said in a statement. “We look forward to working together to develop Nordstrom’s signature Wisconsin location at Mayfair.”

The news follows Nordstrom signing a lease to open a Nordstrom Rack store at The Mayfair Collection retail development near Mayfair.
