Pratt must quickly end voter doubts by presenting full explanation of his financial status
This week, the mayoral campaign of Mayor Marvin Pratt began airing a commercial criticizing his opponent Tom Barrett for violating the clean-campaign pledge he signed.
Pratt accused Barrett of airing commercials the mayor felt were unfair and violated the pledge.
The Pratt commercial also stressed the need for the candidates to focus on the real issues facing the city, such as jobs, taxes and education.
In forum appearances, Pratt has also taken the high road and has focused his comments on the issues.
After two weeks of biased media coverage and insulting negative ads by Barrett, it’s refreshing to hear ads that focus again on issues.
That’s not to say the issues that have plagued Pratt will go away. We feel the mayor can go a long way toward ending doubts among some voters by quickly presenting a full explanation of his financial status, both personal and as a candidate.
A complete airing of these matters must be done by the mayor’s campaign soon so that the only questions he must answer are related to city issues, not his bank account.
Once all the facts are revealed, the undecided voters will know what we already know, that Pratt is more than capable of running Milwaukee and dealing with its myriad of issues.
