Son of late CYD founder Jeannetta Simpson Robinson thanks community for prayers, vows to continue mother’s mission of “Love In Action”
To the editor:
I must first, as my mother Commissioner Jeannetta Simpson-Robinson has taught me: “First, I Give Honor & Praise to my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.”
I wish to thank each of you for your many calls, cards, faxes and e--mails locally and from all over the United States and the World. I have seen many of you at C.Y.D. or at my mother's home in the past several days.
I know it’s has been difficult for some of you to actually get to me and like my mother actually did I wish I could see and hug every one of you. My God Bless you all.
You can usually find me at my mother’s home during the day or C.Y.D. Yes I've been back to work since last week Friday the day after Jeannetta’s transition to heaven as she would have wanted me to be. She always told me to keep faith, be strong and what ever I do I must carry on the legacy she has made of Career Youth Development.
Jeannetta and my grandmother Claretta “Mother Simpson” began CYD back in 1970, 38-years ago. C.Y.D. was built on God, Love and in it's first 3 years operated with only volunteers. I remember sitting in the kitchen about 12-years-old typing proposals, as my mother was writing and dictating.
There will never be another Commissioner Jeannetta Simpson-Robinson. They only come to us in some lifetimes. However I, Charles L. Walton (Butch), will continue doing as she has trained me to do, which is to help in every way I can the most in need youth and families through Love In Action.
Commissioner Jeannetta Simpson-Robinson (Jean) was dedicated to helping everyone she could personally and through the organization she founded Career Youth Development.
She lived to serve God and she actually left this earth at C.Y.D. working in the conference room during a meeting with her most important program group (which is not funded) our C.Y.D. Survivor of Homicide and Grief Support Group.
She was surrounded by those she helped and loved and most importantly Jeannetta was doing what she loved helping with her last breath. No one could have written her book of life any better. Commissioner Jeannetta Simpson-Robinson actually gave her life to the youth and families of our community. My mother was and continues to be my strength to carry on and I will continue her legacy until my last breath. I love you all.
I love my mother with all my heart, with all my soul. I feel she deserves everything I can do for her community farewell. I have made and confirmed the attached arrangements.
Yours for the positive development of youth and families through “Love In Action” Charles L. Walton (Butch), Co-founder/Executive Director/C.E.O.
