They staged a quick press conference, saying they were upset that the super-store opened up at 8:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving night and took some employees away from their families.
After about 40 minutes, the group got back on school buses that they arrived on and headed for the Wal-Mart on East Capitol where they were expected to do the same thing.
A similar scene played out on Thanksgiving night in Somers in Kenosha County.
Dozens of protesters walked a picket line, holding up signs that spelled out in lights “respect the workers.”
“It hurts me to know that my fellow associates are becoming dependent on our local food pantries,” said Wal-Mart employee Mary Pat Tifft. “They’re working full time jobs, why can’t they (Wal-Mart) not take care of them and their families?”
Protesters have been outside of Wal-Mart stores across the country and the National Labor Relations Board has not decided yet whether to stop them.
