Stina Baker: "One thing for sure is that his chances are better now than they would’ve been 50 years ago. Personally, I do think that he would stand a better chance if he was a Republican. We are now ready for an African American to run this country."

Pat Davis: "I am happy that Obama has announced his candidacy. I wish him well because I think it’s time for a Black man to be president. However, we know the political climate in this country. So it will be difficult for him to get such an important position in America."

Pastor Darry Tucker: "I think he has a great chance to win. I also think it is time for an African American president."

Martenzie Barnett: "Very good. I think he’s a sign of the changing times. He offers something different from the others. His biggest problem will be getting the votes of the ‘majority.’ But with what we’ve suffered through with (Bush), he should get enough of those votes to win."
