"What can we do to help our young people stay out of trouble over the summer?"
Una Van Duvall: "We have some great creative activities: Ko-Thi, African American Children’s Theatre, City Ballet. They are all ready to take our kids for the summer. Our teens need jobs and every business needs to make room for them in their companies."
Kecia Turner: "We need to make jobs possible. We also need safe places for the kids to hang out. (Perhaps) open up some of the closed schools and make game rooms and work with the police department to keep these areas safe."
Tony Higgins: "We can help our young people stay out of trouble this summer by providing them with jobs and other activities that will educate and enhance their lives. Those of us who believe that we have elevated our own lives can also mentor a young person."
Clayborn Benson: "Give them jobs, constructive activities and give them love. (And) Show them how important their family legacy is and emphasize how important it is to be the best they can be."
