Question of the Week: "What is your opinion regarding use of the ‘N’-word?" Photos and question by Harry Kemp
LaToya Mitchell: "I feel that the ‘N’-word is not a bad word as long as Black people are using the word. As soon as another race calls us the ‘N’-word, we are ready to fight because we feel like they are being disrespectful to us."
Robin Jordan: "I feel that the ‘N’-word is okay as long as no one uses it the wrong way, because I’m proud to be a ‘N’ African American."
Lacell Harris: I think the ‘N’-word has a good and bad meaning! Two people could use it with love (between the two of them) and mean no harm. But it also could be harmful and racist depending on how you let it effect you. It’s just a word. Be smart!"
Pharoah Weaver: "Society uses the ‘N’-word as a social negative, where as Black people use the term "Nigga" as either a form of slang or just as a figure of speech. Either way, the ‘N’-word is simply a word used in terms of ignorance and should not imply anger, hate or the true character of any one."
