Photos and question by Harry Kemp

James Rouse: "Both parties should be able to work together and plan together all financial activities that are part of their lives."

Yonkardia Thomas: "First of all, to build a successful marriage, couples need to first put less focus on the wedding itself and more on God and building a foundation of love, honesty, respect and faithfulness."

Ermia Redmond: "Couples need to have a spiritual connection. Also, when couples enter the relationship they need to be honest. African Americans also need to do more financial planning."

Christopher Jack: "It takes commitment and dedication to keep a marriage together. The most important thing is communication, talking to each other is a must. The foundation of marriage should be a deep trust in God and trust in one another."
