Question of the Week: "What can be done to improve the graduation rate in Milwaukee public schools?"

Photos and question by Harry Kemp

Willie C.U. White: "I think we must increase fundamental learning for students in the earlier grade to help them complete later grade levels."

Charlene Hardin: "We need to have flexible hours for students. Some children need mornings to take care of their families. Also more reading in the earlier grades. From grades 9 to 12 grade students should look at high school as a job. By making high school a job they will stay in school."

Gary Huff: "Better preparation in the middle schools grades (6th to 9th grade), and elementary school level. There also needs to be a better teacher-student ratio."

Shirley Woodruff-Dodson: "Try to keep all our kids in school"
