New religious magazine to deal with gospel, not gossip

Frisco, Texas (BlackNews.com)--Todrick Johnson revealed the best kept secret in print media January 2007 when he unveiled the newest gospel magazine entitled Epitome Magazine. Epitome Magazine, is a vital resource in bridging sermonic messages with everyday life by spreading Gospel, not gossip.

"Epitome" magazine already has a strong presence in the gospel print media community for being the first Gospel magazine to introduce monthly sermons as well as closing out each magazine issue with a prayer," said Evangelist Lorraine Stencil. "Epitome is taking what is taught in church, to the streets."

Additional features in the magazine include editorial content, Word of Wisdom, Student of the Month, Testimonials, Health, Fitness, Finance, a section catered to Women, Community Uplift, Q&A, Recipes, Sunday’s Child and Inspirational Books.

The magazine also has a feature entitled Role Model, which outlines a couple's life while displaying their faith.

"The enhancement of the layout and subject content, along with the personable feel, widens the gap between Epitome and other Gospel magazines," Stencil adds.

At a price of just $21.99 for a year’s subscription of twelve issues, Epitome Magazine is more affordable than most gospel magazines on the market. The value of the magazine as a reference for Bible study is great, but the true educational value of supporting and encouraging the discussion on the importance of God is priceless.

Founded in March 2006, "Epitome" magazine’s vision is to minister to the world through print media by staying true to its motto "Not Gossip, Just Gospel." It is run by a caring community of Christians that are dedicated to establishing and maintaining a spiritually, healthy, personal relationship with our Lord and Savior. Through its commitment to the Lord and our churches, "Epitome" magazine and its staff is also centered in the community.

Indiana woman delivers ‘Hope for Women’

Woman defies the odds; publishes magazine
Muncie, Indiana/Christian Newswire/--The author, Langston Hughes, asked, "What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?" In the case of Angelia White, the answer is a resounding NO! What should have marked the end of a dream has become a source of inspiration and hope for all women. White's dream, a Christian lifestyle magazine entitled HOPE for Women, debuted nationally in Barnes and Noble, Borders, Hastings and Mardel around the country in the spring of 2007.

As a child, Angelia White’s dream was to publish a magazine. Her dreams were shattered, however, when she became a victim of childhood molestation. White then turned to her mother, whose strength gave Angelia hope and purpose, and she was able to heal. In 2005, after losing both her father and grandmother, she decided it was time to awaken her dream to publish a magazine. When Angelia mentioned this idea to her former supervisor, she turned and remarked, "You! What do you know about publishing a magazine?" This prompted White, who had no formal publishing experience, to surround herself with a great mentor and the best staff possible, recruiting top talent from across the country to help with her endeavor.

Her dream and hope are no longer deferred. Angelia White has made HOPE for Women a reality. HOPE is a magazine that speaks gently but boldly testifies that a woman's faith in God is her bedrock for embracing life and living it fully.

It gives a real voice to the way women live through struggles and victories, tragedies and triumphs, and fears and faith.

HFW is like a conversation with a good friend that leaves you feeling refreshed through tears of joy, laughter, and reflection. HOPE for Women avoids a preachy tone; instead, it gently weaves biblical approaches into a variety of topics, including work/finances, marriage/single living, fashion/beauty, home essentials, entertainment, and more. It is truly a message of...HOPE.

For more information about HOPE for Women magazine, to subscribe or advertise, visit their Web site, www.hopeforwomenmag.org or call 800-936- 2214.

Hope For Women is published four times a year by Virtuous Publications, Inc. and is headquartered in Muncie, Indiana.

MICAH to Launch Economic Justice Campaign!

This event will center on the economic challenges and conditions of the city of Milwaukee and MICAH’s plan to address those challenges. More than six hundred Milwaukee residents and leaders are expected to attend.
The meeting will focus on two things. The first focus is the release of the, "10 Commandments of Economic Justice." As an organization that brings together the faith community to build power for the good of the city, MICAH has developed guiding principles for economic development. The second focus of the meeting is the launch of, "The People's Campaign," which is a pledge of a sustained organizing effort determined to change policy and legislation pertaining to economic development matters.
A census study in 2004 ranked Milwaukee the seventh poorest city in the country. In the study, "The Crisis of Black Male Joblessness in Milwaukee: Trends, Explanations and Policy Options," Dr. Marc Levine reports that Milwaukee is second in the nation in black male unemployment. By launching this campaign, MICAH pledges to build organizing capacity that transforms the economic conditions in this city to work for all people.
