“Stealing health care from children and families is beyond unconscionable,” says Grigsby
Madison – Today Rep. Tamara Grigsby (D-Milwaukee) issued the following statement after Republicans rubberstamped the Walker Administration’s proposal to steal health care from Wisconsin’s children and families in order to fund their corporate tax breaks for special interest groups:
“We face incredible challenges in this state and this country, but gutting more than half of a billion dollars from Wisconsin’s health care system is downright immoral. There is no justification for stealing health care from 65,000 citizens, including nearly 30,000 children. An injury to one is an injury to all and it is outrageous that the health care system for six million Wisconsinites was attacked today.
“The right to quality health care isn’t ideological, it is basic economics. People don’t stop getting sick just because they don’t have health care. Instead, these vulnerable people will end up in our emergency rooms, causing everyone’s quality of health care to go down while costs for every person
go up. Stealing health care from children and families is beyond unconscionable, but the ongoing assault on people by the Walker Administration has become all too familiar.”
