Representative Gwen Moore to speak at Rotary on August 23rd
August 19, 2011 // 0 Comments
Rep. Gwen Moore will provide remarks about the link between foreclosures, jobs, and the city’s economy. She will also discuss what role the federal government should play in ameliorating these critical issues. More than 6,200 property owners are in some stage of foreclosure in Milwaukee. Beyond those, lenders own about 1,600 foreclosed properties and the city owns more than 600. In the past couple of years, Milwaukee’s tax base has lost nearly $2 billion in value. Meanwhile, unemployment remains unacceptably high throughout the state and region.
Her remarks will begin at 12:30 pm.
