Roundy's Foundation donates $16,000 in food and funds to Emergency Food Pantry
The Roundy’s Foundation, chartered by Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc., parent company of Pick ’n Save, recently awarded $16,000 in food and funds to United Methodist Children’s Services of Wisconsin, Inc. Darren Karst, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Roundy’s Supermarkets and Roundy’s Foundation treasurer, made the presentation at a donation ceremony at the Pick ’n Save store located at 5700 West Capitol Drive in Milwaukee. Located at 3940 West Lisbon Avenue in Milwaukee, United Methodist Children’s Services operates an emergency food pantry as a part of its Family Resource Center designed to help families in need with free food, clothing and household goods. The Roundy’s Foundation donation includes $5,000 in cash and a half-truck load of food valued at $11,000. "Hunger relief is one of our passions at Roundy’s Supermarkets," said Robert Mariano, chairman and chief executive officer of Roundy’s and president of the Roundy’s Foundation. "We are happy any time we can help an organization that is making an impact in this area." The emergency food pantry at United Methodist Children’s Services served more than 20,000 people last year. That’s up from 14,700 people in 2004. |
