It can be said: Milwaukee’s youth are on a mission, headed for success.

Many of the city’s young people were recently recognized for their achievements and participation in a number of Social Development Commission (SDC) programs.

The SDC Youth and Family Development Program honored the youth at the recent annual award ceremony.

More than 1,500 youth during 2008 took part in SDC youth programs that included Baby Think It Over, Creating Lasting Family Connections and Community Services Options/Youth Restorative Justice.

Youth were also able to participate in a variety of recreational and educational activities designed to encourage youth and their families.

Skip Robinson, Director of Community Relations for the Milwaukee Bucks, gave the keynote address during the recent SDC?annual awards ceremony.

In his address, he noted that for many youth in the SDC programs, they had gotten a second chance and that they needed to take advantage of that chance and continue to in the path toward success.

He added that the youth have the ability and potential to do great things and urged them to consciously work to make it happen.
