Shame, Shame!

In focusing as we did on the closing of such community eating establishments as Stella’s Restaurant and Manna House, we failed to notice the closing of “Hoopz” at the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Burleigh Street. The walk-up fast food restaurant—known for its burgers—had a presence in our community for more than 20 years. A new owner bought the establishment, rehabbed it and renamed it “Hoopz.” Despite the new look and name, the restaurant failed to generate enough patronage to stay opened, closing several months ago before the closing of Stella’s.
