A retired licensed nurse and the owner of Joe’s Desk Top and Medical Transcription Inc., Josephine Morris says she will be a compassionate and committed servant if she were elected to succeed incumbent Alderman Michael McGee.
A 15-year resident of the district, Morris was also a commissioner with the Social Development Commission (SDC) and was a candidate for the Milwaukee County Board in 2000.
The mother of three sons (one of whom is deceased, a victim of crime), Morris’ priorities would be, if elected, work to bring back safe neighborhoods by ridding them of drug houses, dealers and illegal weapons, create more jobs and businesses, developing more day care options for parents, restoring physical and mental health services to the poor, disabled and indigent and hold regular townhall meetings.
Morris feels it’s important to periodically get the input of the people who live in the district and help connect them with services that will improve their quality of life.
Morris is also committed to developing individualized community plans based on individual community needs. "Many neighborhood communities that exist within the city district has its own unique needs," Morris says in her campaign literature. "Each of these neighborhood communities should have an individual plan."
Morris said she will especially focus on protecting our children by pushing for initiatives that will continually monitor the number and location of child sex predators in the district. She said she will also work with local schools to ensure that students will receive a quality education to help them become sound-minded citizens and leaders.
