Standing united for ALZHEIMER’S

On Saturday, January 23rd, a luncheon program was held to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the Brentwood Church of Christ's and Alzheimer's Association's African American Community Caregiver Support Group. A capacity filled crowd joined in the celebration for the group that offers support and education to those coping wiht Alzheimer's and other caregiver needs.

Alzheimer's is an issue of importance for the community because the disease is more prevalent among African Americans. There is a greater familial risk of Alzheimer's in African Americans and genetic and environmental factors may work differently to cause Alzheimer's disease in African Americans.
