State Democrats to hold confab in Milwaukee in June

The 2007 Democratic Party of Wisconsin Convention will be held Friday, June 29 and Saturday June 30 at the Hilton City Center, 509 West Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee.

"Our county party is very excited to be hosting the convention this year," said Martha Love, chair of the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County. "Not only will it be a chance to show off our wonderful city to our Democratic friends throughout the state, but it will also give our Milwaukee members a great opportunity to raise their voices about the direction of their State Party."

Paid members of the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County can become delegates to the convention by notifying DPMC Recording Secretary Rochelle Riley at 342-3999 or at info@milwaukeedems.org. The deadline to register as a delegate with the DPMC is Monday, June 4. Only registered delegates can vote in elections for party officers and during platform and resolution debate.

In addition, volunteers will be needed before, during and after the convention to handle a variety of duties. To help, contact convention coordinators Anita Fox at anita_fox6@hotmail.com. Democratic activists with questions concerning the convention should contact Mary Trick at 608-255-5172 or maryt@wisdems.org for more information.

Hotel reservations can be made with the Hilton by calling 271-7250 or 1-800-445-8667. Convention delegates and guests can reserve hotel rooms under the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s room block.
