St. Ben’s community meal benefits from Hunger Force Show

St. Ben’s Community Meal, a Capuchin ministry, has been named the charity for the Hunger Force Show, an evening of rock ’n’ roll, to be held November 11 at Calhoun Station, 1849 South Calhoun Road, in New Berlin.

Five rock ’n’ roll bands will be playing, beginning at 7 p.m. Bands include Fat Camp, Denova, Joyride, Hazmet, and Albatross.

Sponsored by Cousins Subs, all proceeds will benefit St. Ben’s Community Meal, which provides nourishment and counsel to Milwaukee’s poor and hungry. Over 2,000 individuals are served every week, six days a week.

Hunger Force Show event organizer and Albatross band member Bob Lukomski explains, "I have been aware of St. Ben’s Community Meal since I served there as a child as part of my church group.

It’s a much-needed program that is making a big difference in Milwaukee.

With Thanksgiving coming up, this seemed to be a natural fit. When I started talking to other Milwaukee musicians, they all jumped on board.

"This will be an evening of rock ’n’ roll and helping those who need the most help.

"With winter coming, no one should have to go hungry."

St. Ben’s also provides prevention-focused health care through its clinic, a partner with Columbia St. Mary’s.

St. Ben’s is a Capuchin ministry and is part of the Province of St. Joseph of the Capuchin Order, which is headquartered in Detroit, and serves Capuchin ministries worldwide.
