Backpack Buddies

The start of the new school year is tough enough, but if you don’t have the right supplies, it can be even more difficult. The Backpack Buddies program, now in its second year, aims to help break the cycle of poverty by providing at-risk children in grades K5 through third grade with a backpack filled with school supplies to get them off on the right track and build enthusiasm for education.
Plush Backpack Buddies are available for purchase for $10 at participating Sentry grocery stores and US Bank locations beginning Friday, August 18 through Monday, September 4. Net proceeds from the program will go toward the purchase of backpacks filled with supplies including notebooks, folders, paper, pens, pencils, crayons, markers and more, These backpacks will be distributed to children in need throughout southeastern Wisconsin in early September.
