Top Ladies provide screenings
Top Ladies of Distinction has received a $5,000 grant from the Helen Bader Foundation to hold a health fair for Milwaukee Youth. The Top Teen Health Fair will provide health screening and assessment including testing for diabetes, obesity, hypertension, nutrition and high cholesterol. As a result of these screenings, each student will be assigned an appropriate workshop demonstrating the case of making health choices. "Showing our youth how to make healthy choices is an easy way to give them a better chance at longer, healthier and more productive lives," said Cheryl Buckhanan, Top Ladies of Distinction, Milwaukee Chapter president. "Besides the obvious health benefits of holding this program, developing healthy bodies can lead our city youth to be more confident and empowered." The program invites all Milwaukee Public Schools with students in the appropriate age group to participate. Two to three hundred city youth and around 100 chaperones will attend. The ultimate goal of the program will be to provide the youth with positive role models that will teach them basic life skills. "Maintain good health will yield positive results in helping youth grow and develop," said Daniel Bader, Helen Bader Foundation president. "Top Ladies of Distinction is working to ensure that these students are getting personally relevant information that can have a sharp and positive impact on their lives." |
