"Dancing in the Streets!" Modjeska Youth Theatre Company perform the hit Broadway musical "Dreamgirls"

A scene from the Modjeska Youth Theatre Company’s production of "Dreamgirls"

The Modjeska Youth Theatre Company has brought Broadway to Historic Mitchell Street with a Motown beat! The company is currently performing "Dreamgirls" at the Modjeska Theatre now until October 8. The musical is about three young Black women’s rise to fame and fortune during the ’60s and the struggles they encounter along the way. It is also a behind the scenes look at the reality of the entertainment industry, the struggles, heartaches and triumphs of the human spirit with music and dancing. The musical is also a history lesson of the changing musical industry that created a new American sound. (Picture taken by Modjeska Theatre)
