Ministers lead caravan of justice through downtown

Area ministers brought the community together in a show of solidarity by leading a "caravan of justice" down Wisconsin Avenue to the federal courthouse to hand petitions containing 12,000 signatures calling for justice in the Frank Jude, Jr. case. The petitions were handed to federal prosecutor Steven M. Biskupic, who is currently looking into the case in which three White Milwaukee police officers were acquitted of any wrong doing in the beating. (photo by Harry Kemp)

Breaking ground on new Midtown edition

Political, community and business leaders joined officials from developer Inland Western Retail Real Estate Trust, Inc. in breaking ground for the company’s first development project and the beginning of new construction at Midtown Center. Two new retail developments, to be built in phases, will bring new national retailers to the urban shopping center. Inland Western also plans to rework the boulevard that encircles Midtown Center to make it more pedestrian--and automobile-friendly. Inland Western purchased Midtown Center from developer Boulder Venture in January 2005 for more than $50 million. (photo by Harry Kemp)
