Street dedicated for Good Samaritan

Eric Moore holds the sign that bears the name of his father, the late Frank Moore II at the street re-naming celebration, which took place in the 5200 block of West Fiebrantz Avenue on the side of J.L. Marcus at West Fond Du Lac Avenue). Moore family members, friends and former co-workers joined Alderman Joe Davis, Sr. who hosted the event.
The alderman introduced the measure in August. The full Common Council approved the street renaming on September 6.
Moore, a father of three, was gunned down July 22 after he tried to stop a burglary at a neighbor’s home in the 5100 block of North 65th Street. The shooting happened a day after the man accused in the shooting was released from jail without charges in connection with the other incident. Davis said the tragedy was compounded by the fact that police and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office "dropped the ball" and failed to file charges in the earlier cases.
