Rickie Weeks treats 1,000 area kids to baseball game

Rickie Weeks

Milwaukee Brewers’ second baseman Rickie Weeks has purchased 1,000 tickets to Brewers’ games that will be donated to underprivileged and disadvantaged youth as a part of his "Rickie’s Rookies" program, Brewers’ Executive Vice President-Business Operations Rick Schlesinger announced recently.

"Rickie is one of our young stars but is already a strong role model among children in our community," said Schlesinger.

"The idea for this program started with Rickie, and this is just one example of his dedication to the community and our many youth programs."

The tickets will be distributed for five games this season and each child who receives a ticket will also receive a special "Rickie’s Rookies" T-shirt.

The tickets will be distributed throughout the Milwaukee area to nonprofit programs for disadvantaged youths. The program is sponsored in part by Weeks’ shoe company, 3N2 Baseball.

"I feel it is important that kids who are not normally exposed to baseball experience the game," said Weeks.

"Many of these kids will be attending their first Major League game and I am honored to be a part of that special experience."

Two-hundred tickets will be distributed for each of the following games: each of the three games of the Brewers-Colorado Rockies series August 22-24; September 8 when the Brewers play the Houston Astros and September 22 when the Brewers play the San Francisco Giants.
