Opening Day Celebration & BBQ Cook-off Saturday, June 26

Kick off the start of farmers market season at Fondy! Opening Day means that farmers have returned to the market with long-awaited springtime favorites like strawberries and spinach. Singers, dancers and performers will entertain, and kids will have loads of fun with activities just for them.

Wafting through the air will be the mouth-watering smell of Fondy’s 3rd Annual BBQ Ribs and Chicken Cook-off. Contestants compete for $800 in prize money – $400 in each category. Think you have what it takes to be a pit master? It’s not too late to apply – fill out and return the application attached at the bottom of Fondy’s farmers market page with $20 check or money order entrance fee. Rules and a BBQ flyer are also attached.

Are you more talented at eating BBQ than at cooking it? Come early for a chance to be a People’s Choice BBQ Judge. Judging is at 11am and noon.
