Christmas comes early!

Central city children received some early Christmas gifts recently at the 35th Annual Johnetta Borum Christmas Party for Deserving Children held at the Italian Community Center. Children partook in a luncheon buffett and a visit with Santa Claus and his elves. A woman who dedicated her life to doing charitable deeds, Borum started the Christmas Party in December of 1971 when she invited 20 children from two Milwaukee Public Schools to eat lunch and receive gifts from approximately 60 postal workers. The event has brought joy to over 8,200 children in Milwaukee as well as other cities across the country. (photo by Harry Kemp)
